We all have different reasons we’ve come to the campervan. From those who love to live their life on the road to those who enjoy taking a little bit of home on their holidays, there are many different reasons to buy a professionally converted campervan.
And perhaps your lifestyle means one or more of these doesn’t work. But to be able to say you’ve got the most out of your campervan, we think there are a few routes everyone should take the time to do when they get the opportunity. Here are the big highlights.
The NC500

We’re starting with the one you’re most likely to have already heard of (even though it’s very new). Scotland is famous among motorists for the NC500, a beautiful route looping through the country to show a little of everything. Usually it begins and ends at Inverness Castle, it was only launched as a thing eleven years ago, though much of it follows the old North Highland Way, which was mostly a walking route.
In the decade since it’s really caught fire with many drivers raving about it, and it certainly deserves all the respect it gets.
Lands’ End to John O’ Groats

Top to tail of the Great British mainland, there are many different ways to go from one point to the other, and a determined driver could do the shortest route in around 14 hours if they were determined.
Of course, that’s only interesting to those who want to speedrun the experience. For most of us, it can be an opportunity to see the beauty of the country, passing through Exmoor, the Lake District, and the Scottish Highlands among others. Planning the route to last a week, a campervan becomes the perfect base of operations for a deeply memorable trip.
Germany’s Romantic Road

The NC500 was born out of an initiative to help tourists rediscover Scotland in the 2010s, built on the foundation of an existing route. In the 1950s, German travel agents picked out a nearly 300-mile stretch of Germany’s most beautiful towns and castles, built on the foundation of an old trade route through the country.
The Romantic Road has changed slightly in recent years and now runs just over 250 miles through Bavaria and Baden-Wurttemberg. For many, the famous castle Neuschwanstein, often called a real-life Disney castle, is the highlight, but there’s no part of this route that doesn’t have something beautiful to see. Including getting there and back, this is a great basis for a two-week summer holiday to remember forever.
The Amalfi Drive

It’s only about two hours of total driving time to undertake the Amalfi Coast drive, and in fact you can find multiple videos of the entire route on YouTube. But while the drive-time isn’t much, those videos will also show you why you’d want to go there. The route itself is a beautiful drive with much to enjoy, but it’s also studded with gleaming jewels of beaches and wonderful towns.
We recommend taking it slow and steady and stopping to recharge whenever you see a pleasant opportunity, and there are people out there who’ve designed 7-night itineraries – something almost no other 2-hour drive can claim!
Scenic Route Lofoten

The Lofoten archipelago on Norway’s coastline has some of the most stunning scenery in a beautiful country, and Scenic Route Lofoten is one of the best ways to experience it. In Norway, Scenic Routes are eighteen drives considered perfect for tourists to see the country, showing off beautiful scenery and being well equipped with rest stops and viewpoints to enjoy them.
At 550 miles along the entire route, it’s an amazing way to enjoy views you really can’t experience anywhere else.
