While many of our customers want a professionally converted campervan to enrich their holidays, make road trips easier to plan, and get into the wilds with enough time to enjoy them before they have to leave, there are also plenty of you out there who love to live the van life – and who’ve embraced remote work to support that lifestyle.
So what should you bear in mind if you’re thinking this might be the way for you?

Maximise Campervan Quality
On any trip the comfort and reliability of your campervan will be essential, but when it becomes your full-time or even part-time home, these are both more important than ever. You’ll want the best possible fuel and battery performance, as well as kitchen facilities that can cope with whatever you need.
Take a look at the specs for our Ford campervan, boasting an air fryer and induction hob as standard along with a capacious fridge freezer. Along with solar panels and battery-to-battery charging, this model makes it as easy as possible to live your best life on the road – and with USB outlets to power your devices, it makes work as a digital nomad so much easier.
Change How You Think About Maintenance
Regular readers on the Escape Campers Hub will already know that we advocate for spring campervan maintenance to get your vehicle back in peak condition after a quiet winter. Full-time van lifers don’t have quiet winters – but the vehicle will need more regular attention as a result.

Bust out a log book (or an app version if that’s the way you prefer) and make sure you don’t just check what you’re looking at but you keep a record too. We can absolutely guarantee you that you’ll put a campervan through more than you do a regular car, and because the vehicle’s heavier, it will take more wear from the same amount of driving too.
If you’ve gone full nomad and you’re moving around regularly, it’s well worth joining in with local area discussion groups on social media. We selected sturdy, reliable vehicles to convert and our conversions are carried out with exacting precision, so our campervans are highly dependable, but if the worst should happen, knowing you can source recommendations for the best mechanics nearby is really valuable.
Make Sure Your Job Aligns with Your Life
Work-life balance is never more important than for the van life. We know of virtual assistants, remote administrators, sysadmins, graphic designers, web developers and others all travelling while they work. We wouldn’t be surprised to learn about podcasters and proofreaders – but an overlooked area is people who work with their hands.

So long as you can market yourself effectively wherever you stop, there’s no reason handymen, plumbers, landscapers and others couldn’t operate from their van. And if you’re prepared to put down roots for a season at a time, there’s plenty of work to be had in farming and tourism industries so long as you’re prepared to put the work in.
Imagine spending your summer as a surf instructor in Cornwall then, as the weather cools, pointing your campervan toward Scotland and wintering at a ski resort. The opportunities for your free time are huge.
